Obituary for Fundador Roman-Cruz

Fundador Roman–Cruz, 87, of Reading, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

He was the husband of Margarita (Rivera) Roman.

Born in Puerto Rico, on October 24, 1926, he was the son of the late Pedro and Benita (Cruz) Roman.

Fundador was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

His first job was at the Crystal restaurant in Reading, where he loved to cook. Fundador then worked for Birdsboro Steel until his retirement. He also worked part time for the city of Reading.

In addition to his wife his children, Elsie Roman, Norma Ortiz, and Elizabeth Lisa Moya; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and sister, Carmen Lopez, survive him.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Leonardo Rodriguez, and brother, Alfredo Roman-Cruz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 9:30 A.M. in St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 322 S. 5th St. Reading, Pa 19602. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. A viewing will be held on Monday evening March 17th from 6 P. M. to 8 P.M. and Tuesday Morning From 8:15 A. M. to 9:15 A.M. in the Church.
