FRANK M. KAUFFMAN, FORMER F.B.I. AGENT

Frank M. Kauffman, 97, of The Highlands at Wyomissing, died April 9, 2014 in the Reading Hospital after having been admitted that day.

He was married to the late Maribelle (Brubaker) Kauffman for sixty six years until her death in 2009. Frank and Maribelle met on a blind date and were together from that moment on.

Frank was born in Lancaster, PA and was a 1938 graduate of Franklin and Marshall College. He also spent two years in graduate school at George Washington University before joining the FBI as a special agent during WWII. He served in Omaha, Cleveland, Norfolk, Philadelphia, and later finally settled in Berks to be near his family in Lancaster. He continued with his work in the Bureau for nearly 30 years until he retired for the first time. For the next fifteen years he served as Borough Manager of Wyomissing until he was sixty five and retired for the second time.

Frank was a resident of Wyomissing for sixty two years and lived independently until last June when he moved to the Highlands. He surprised even himself when he came to enjoy living there.

Frank was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, and a former church council member. He also served on the boards of the Western Berks Water Authority and Camp Conrad Weiser and was a member of the Washington Library Company.
Frank was a dedicated professional who always loved to focus on details in all that he pursued. His files are legendary to the family. More importantly he had the knack of talking to people of all ages and enjoyed conversations with a wide variety of the many friends and acquaintances that he treasured.

He is survived by a son, Dr. Robert B. Kauffman, husband of Sally M. of Frostburg, Maryland and a daughter, Susan K., wife of Thomas R. Ziemer of Reading, four grandchildren, Laura, John, Matthew and Libby, six great grandchildren, Lincoln, Wesley, Henry, Nora, Colin and Annabelle.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 11:00 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 to the time of service. Inurnment will be private in the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church.
