Obituary for Emma B. Hyson-White

Emma "Bunny" Bernice (Stubbs) White completed her earthly journey on Saturday, June 7, 2014.

Born October 2, 1944, Bunny was the daughter of the late Earl F. Stubbs and Ruth E. (Hurdle) Stubbs. She was baptized at the Zion Baptist Church as a child.

After graduating from Reading Senior High School, she worked at Wernersville State Hospital and Rockwell Industries before finding her passion for antiques. For over 30 years, she was a seller and collector of antiques and collectibles. She owned White's Storefront, a place to sell antiques and collectibles and a haven for family and friends. She was generous and a point of strength to many in her life.

Bunny was a devoted wife to her husband, Raymond for 31 years and an extraordinary mother to her three children. She was a member of Bethel AME Church for over 30 years and the Youth of Yesterday for over 25 years.

Bunny was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend. She is survived by her husband, Raymond L. White, and her children: John F. Hyson, Harrisburg, PA; Stephanie (Hyson), wife of Duncan M. MacPhail, Thetford, VT; Andrea M. Hyson, San Francisco, CA; Holly Glimp, Austin, TX; Ramon Alston, Atlanta, GA; and Raymond L. White Jr., Richmond, VA. She was one of ten children and is survived by her siblings: Vaughn D. Stubbs, Philadelphia PA and Cynthia D. Stubbs-Hill, wife of Hugh Hill, of Kent, CT. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Christian, Sadie, Sophie, Anthony, Pemma, Alisdair, Arramys, Ozrielle, Tatum, Raquisha, Emani, Shumonte, and Naomi; and eleven great-grandchildren; her Aunt Bernice Seay and her beloved nieces and nephews.

Bunny is preceded in death by her five brothers: Earl J., William J., Charles L., Nelson R., and Frederick R. Stubbs and two sisters, Marilyn E. Gilmore and Pamela R. Ransom.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday June 14, at 12:00 p.m. at Bethel AME Church, 330 West Windsor Street, Reading, PA 19601.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Bunny, gifts may be provided directly to the family and payable to her daughter "Andrea Hyson" to assist with funeral and other financial situations.

Henninger Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. www.henningerfuneralhome.com
