Janet (Yeager) Thomas-Anderson
Janet (Yeager) Thomas-Anderson, died peacefully in her home on July 22 with her family present. She was born June 16, 1931 in Laureldale, PA to the late Robert R. Yeager Sr. and Dorothy I. (Hagan) Yeager. She was predeceased by husbands, John P. Thomas, Sr., in 1992 and Martin L. (Pete) Anderson in 2010.
Janet was a Reading High graduate, class of 1949, and worked as a secretary for the law firm Hevalow, Wisniewski & Guthrie for many years. She began work as an independent insurance agent with Kurtz & Dowd, later known as Kurtz, Dowd & Nuss, and finally as KDN Lanchester, retiring in 1993. She earned the professional designations of CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) and CPIA (Certified Professional Insurance Agent). Janet loved golfing and bowled in several leagues, through which she received many awards and made many good friends. She loved taking walks with her faithful canine companion, Baby. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.
Janet is survived by children she loved very much: Alline M. Smith; Kathleen L. Peires, wife of Michael; Cheryl A. Franckowiak; and John P. Thomas, Jr., husband of Cynthia (Wloczewski). She is survived by one sister, Kay A. (Yeager) Nixon, wife of Walter Nixon. She is survived by grandchildren: Christopher Smith, Amy Smith Haenn, Lisa Smith, Aaron Smith, Deanna Smith, Tyler Franckowiak and Allison Franckowiak. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Jacob, Jessica, James Philip, and Noah Smith, and Liam, Caleb and Brenna Haenn. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert R. Yeager, Jr.
Janet will be remembered at a Memorial service on Monday July 28, 2014 at 11 a. m. in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1009 Elizabeth Ave. Laureldale, Pa 19605. Inurnment will follow in Lauredale Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 a. m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the church at the above address. To celebrate Janet’s life, please dress in her favorite color orange, anything related to her favorite football player Peyton Manning, or your favorite golf or bowling attire.
