Melvin L. Martin Sr., of Reading, passed November 28, 2014 with his loving family by his side. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all.

He was the husband of Donna (Kobige) Martin.

Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he was the son of Gladys S. Martin.

He graduated from Reading High School and was a star athlete in many sports including football, track, basketball and boxing.

Melvin currently worked as a roofer for over 25 years with Roofers Local #30, Philadelphia.

He is also survived by his children, Adara Adam, Bernadette Nelson, Tracey Kobige, Felicia Martin, Melvin Martin Jr., Vanessa Martin, Darnell Martin, Anthony Martin, Derek Martin and Erika Martin, 17 grandchildren, brother, Jerry Martin, and sisters, Barbara Hill and Shirley Hall.

Services will be held Thursday at 12 Noon in Henninger Funeral Home, Inc. 229 N. 5th St., Reading. Viewing will be held from 10 AM to Noon in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park .
