Obituary for Jean M. Petersen (Willingham)

Jean M. Petersen, 84, passed February 2, 2015 in Green Hills Manor, Cumru Township.

She was the wife of 53 years to Uwe N. Petersen of Wyomissing.

Born in Reading, PA she was the daughter of James B. and Marjorie E. (Luckanavage) Willingham.

Jean was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School and also a graduate of Reading Hospital School of Nursing.

She was known as “Mother Petersen” by many of her co-workers. During her nursing career, she worked as a Coronary and Intensive Care Nurse and later spearheaded the Kidney Dialysis Unit at Reading Hospital. She also worked as a private practice nurse and last worked as a Nurse Consultant for Aetna Insurance, retiring in 1992.

She was a past president and secretary of the Teutonia Ladies Club and past president and secretary of Valley of Reading AASR Ladies Auxiliary. Jean was also very active with the Golden Eagles AASR. Jean also enjoyed reading and crafts in her spare time.

She is survived by her loving children, George Naftzinger of Illinois, Holly wife of Mark Einsel of Mohnton, John Petersen of Reading, and Caroline Borden of Reading.
Also, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a son, James Naftzinger.

Service will be private at the convenience of the family.
