Phyllis Symons, 90, formerly of Pennside, passed May 12th in Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville.
She was the wife of Sidney L. Symons.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of Jennie (Phillips) Schwartz and Harry Schwartz.
She was a graduate of Hunter College in New York with a B.A. Degree in Economics.
Symons was a clinical case worker and case manager in the Developmental Enrichment Services Dept. of Family Guidance Center. Her efforts were devoted mainly to the mentally retarded, their families and to the elderly.
She retired from Family Guidance Center in 1982 after 15 years of service.
She was a member of Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom, Wyomissing, where she was a past member of the Board of Trustees as well as a member of the Sisterhood and it’s Board of Trustees.
She is also survived by her son, Howard husband of JoAnne Symons, Bethesda, Maryland; daughter, Barbara (Symons) wife of James Miller, Brookfield, Ill. and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 AM in Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom, 555 Warwick Dr., Wyomissing. Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Cemetery.
