Edward V. “Whitey” Pokrywa, 89, of Reading, passed August 7th in his residence.

He was the husband of Adriana (CittI0 Pokrywa.

Born in Reading, PA he was the son of Michael J. and Rosa Pokrywa.

He worked for 19 years as a security guard for VF Outlets, retiring in 1992.

Edward was a member of Holy Rosary RCC, Reading and was an avid church attendee.

He served with the U.S. Army for 20 years and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He is also survived by a son, Michael J. Pokrywa of Reading, four grandchildren, Marco, Ashley, Joshua, and Nicholas, three great grandchildren, Abigail, Brandon, and Hayden, and a daughter in law, Sherri Pokrywa.

He was pre-deceased by four brothers and four sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, August 12th at 10 AM in Holy Rosary RCC., 237 Franklin St., Reading.

A viewing will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 AM in Henninger Funeral Home, 229 N. 5th St., Reading.

Interment will be in Laureldale Cemetery.
