Obituary for Myrtle M. Mengel

Myrtle M. Mengel, 97, passed January 21st in the Phoebe Berks Health Care Center, Wernersville.

She was the widow of Clayton J. Mengel who passed in 2005.

Born in Reading, PA she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Miriam (Coller) Seidel.

She was the secretary to the Mayor of Reading and was also the secretary to the Dean of Admissions at
Albright College.

She was an avid artist in many media including oil, watercolor, clay, collage, and hypertufa.

She also enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, and reading.

She volunteered her time with the League of Women’s Voters of Berks County and was amember of the Berks Art Alliance.

She is survived by her sons, Larry C. husband of Carol Mengel of Sinking Spring and Allen husband of Kathy Mengel of Lewistown. There are also 5 grandchildren, Michelle, Sharon, Jennifer and Christopher as well as 3 great grandchildren.
