Obituary for Mary S. Eavenson

Mary S. Eavenson, 89, passed away quietly in the wee hours of the morning on Tuesday,
October 10, 2017 at Heather Court in Wyomissing, PA. She had been a long time resident of
the Highlands and lived there with her husband, Thomas Scott Eavenson, for 7 years before his
passing in 2007. She was his devoted and loving wife for almost 57 years; their 67th wedding
anniversary would have been on October 7th, just 3 days before her passing. Mary was also
predeceased by her sisters, Joan Kowaleski, and Marjorie Marx. Born in Philadelphia, she was
the daughter of the late James V. and Charlotte (Rabbit) Standeven.
Mary had a caring and compassionate heart. She devoted her later years to caring for her
husband and was the reason that he was as vibrant as he was to the age of 82. While Tom was
in good health, they enjoyed traveling abroad. Her love for family was evident; her children and
grandchildren were the benefactors of this undying support and love. Her sisters and nieces
were an important part of her life; there are many fond memories of sharing summer vacations
on Long Beach Island in New Jersey with them. She had a love of music; many were fortunate
to enjoy her piano playing, even when she resided in Heather Court. All that were lucky enough
to know her will remember her incredible beauty, both inside and out.
She is survived by two sons, Scott Eavenson and wife, Regine Ambroise and stepson,
Benjamin of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada and James Eavenson and his husband Satish Sanap
ot Ithaca, New York and one daughter, Barbara Eavenson Krolick and her husband, Rick Krolick
of South Deerfield, Massachusetts, and their children, David Krolick of Lincoln, Rhode Island,
Lauren Krolick Brown and husband Zachary Brown of Boston, Massachusetts, and Jenna
Krolick Gordon and her husband, Casey Gordon of Somersworth, New Hampshire. She also
has 3 nieces, Nancy Marx Schubarth, Susie Marx, and Coddy Marx.
Our sincere appreciation goes to Grane Hospice Care and to the staff of Heather Court, who
have provided loving support and compassionate care for almost 5 years.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 13 at 10:00 AM in Christ Episcopal Church,
Reading, PA.
Henninger Funeral Home Inc, 229 N 5th Street, Reading is in charge of arrangements. Online
