Phyllis Friedman Hirsch died on Monday June 20, 2016, after a long illness, at the Highlands at Wyomissing at the age of 83. A retired pianist and music teacher, Mrs. Hirsch grew up in Manhattan and lived in Queens, Great Neck, Port Washington and Baltimore as well as the Reading area. Her brother Myron Friedman, son Bruce Babitz, daughter Lori Babitz, and her husband of 44 years, Norman Hirsch, predeceased her. She will be lovingly remembered for her warmth and interest in people, love of music, her great sense of humor, and strength. She is survived by her stepdaughter Amy Hirsch (Jessica Robbins), stepson Corey Hirsch (Sara), grandchildren Mel Babitz, Danielle Hirsch, Jon Hirsch and Ben Hirsch, sister in law Patricia Frankel, former daughter in law Stacey Babitz, daughter in law Jacki Babitz, and many dear friends and relatives. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday July 3rd from 1-3 pm at the Highlands at Wyomissing. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Planned Parenthood. Henninger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
