George Gorgas Landis, age 72, of Bernville, Berks County, formerly of Reading, PA, passed away unex-pectedly on February 16, 2015 at Reading Hospital.
Born in Reading on January 11, 1943, he was a son of the late Oliver Landis, Sr. and Helen C (Gorgas) Landis Bechtel.
He was a 1961 graduate of Reading High School and a former member of PA National Guard.
He was a former member of Hope Lutheran Church and Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.
He retired as a reporter for the Reading Eagle newspaper in 2009.
He is survived by a daughter Andrea M. Landis of Seattle, WA; and 2 sons, Gary A. Landis, husband of Karyn Deming Landis of Succusunna, NJ; Glenn G. Landis, husband of Amy Landis, of Severna, MD. He is also survived by 6 Granddaughters and 1 Grandson, brother Oliver Landis Jr, husband of Linda Landis, of Manheim, PA; and a sister Patricia L. Hauser, wife of Dr. Raymond J. Hauser, of Bowers, PA., 5 nephews and 2 nieces.
He was predeceased by a sister Linda L. (Landis) Fix and two brothers Ronald & Paul Landis.
Services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 10:00 am. in Henninger Funeral Home, 229 North 5th Street, Reading, PA 19601. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading PA. Viewing will be Sat-urday, February 21, 2015 from 9:00 - 10:00 am.
